Spawn with Todd is back...

As reported by Wizard and Newarama I am the new artist on Spawn. Brian Holguin will come back as writer. And as a happy surprise Todd Mcfarlane comes back to the book. He will co write with Brian and he will collaborate with me on the art. I do most of the art but Todd will make a pass on my pencils so it will be a collaboration.

With this we have three pro's only interested in telling a new story. There will be a new guy in the foreground but everything else will be the same world we know and love. I liken it to the fact that thruout all these years the Spawn universe has been expanded by the comic book and the toyline but because of the nature of Al Simmons who is basically a private person we have only seen this big bad world that is the Spawn Universe but in glimpse's. Now for the first time we will be given a situation that will allow us to explore every corner of this vast Universe.

So it is new and all the same in the same package...it promises to be a fun ride...will keep you posted...you can also check out its official site...http://endgame.spawn.com/...Whilce...

great to have you back and active again Whilce. I heard about you doing Spawn with Todd when he had in interview in Wizard my jaw hit the floor.

I have a few questions and if you could answer them that would be great.

1. Will you have an inker on Spawn? if so will it be Rich Friend?

2. Can you publish Wetworks under image? or is that a Wildstorm/DC thing.

3. And finally will you be back for the Phoenix Comic Con?

1-So far we've decided to have no inker...we are digitally inking my pencils but with a big difference...I'll post soon as to the new process...

2-It's a DC thing so I am during the next year thinking of new concepts...

3-If they'll have us we'll be there...we love it in Pheonix we have many friends there...Whilce...

Thanks for answering my questions Whilce. That sucks about Wetworks, and is the inking being done by Haberlin studios as well as the coloring?

Joseph-

We're trying to do it in house at Mcfarlane...I'll handle initial digital inking then it will be fully cleaned up and prepped at Mcfarlane studios and colored by Jin who is also Todd's toy designer under Todd's direction. We're experimenting with a new style so we'll see where it goes...Whilce...

again thanks for the answer the whole project sounds bad ass, I think this will get me back into geek mode for Spawn again.

Do you know about the process that they will be using to digitally ink. I am currently coloring books that are primarily pencil and I'm trying to get a method that will darken the lines but without so smudge. I have been using levels, brightness and contrast and trying some hands on dodge to get rid of the light pencils. Do you have any tips of your own that can help, thanks for listening.

Hi Master Whilce!

Finally! A way for me to get in touch to you -- been wanting for this to happen since 1998.

About Wetworks... what's the WildStorm/DC thing?

BTW, I'm a game programmer (not game publisher -- big difference). I think having a game franchise will help promote your creative stuff (Wetworks and Stone). Ever thought of doing so?

Oh my God..WHILCE!!!!

I have been out of comics for like a decade, and you were always my favorite artist along with Jae Lee, and Simon Bisley. And today I just typed your name into the great Google and I find you are working on my all time favorite character Spawn.

This is like an early birthday present.

You, man are the Great.
