Digging thru old sketchbooks

Going thru old sketches can lead to inspiration. I recently scanned a lot of old marker high contrast drawings I did years ago. I think this was the period of my run on Batman Confidential, because there were some Batman sketches. I cannot remember why I never used thIs style on the book. It's a style as moody, if not moreso than my old Wetworks style, but is quicker and easier to do, being that all the magic happens on the fly since I go straight to ink from layouts, no tight pencils. I'm itching to find a project to use this style in now...

Whilce,

I dunno if you even respond to this but I can't seem to find any other way to take a shot at it so here it is. I was an avid comic fan growing up in the 90's and Wetworks was far and away my favorite. While I have drifted from the the industry as I've grown up I do occasionally break out the collection and indulge myself in some nostalgic reading. I cant help but look at Wetworks, especially the first 15 or so issues before the Fire From Heaven Crossover and realize how much potential the story had at that point. It was still pretty good up until I think it was issue 32 when Wildstorm went in an all new all different direction….it wasn't garbage after that but it certainly seemed to have gone in a different direction that what you started and I had to wonder how much creative influence you had on it as it moved forward and you were busy with other projects. I am rambling on but I guess my question is where you saw the story going when you started it, and if your happy with its current status…..in my opinion it is the single greatest from a potential standpoint of any werewolf/vampire/human story I've ever read…..it would make an amazing movie….would love to discuss it further...

@Wylder-thanx for the compliments, its a testimony to putting everything you got into what you're doing. With the original series in regards to the Nighttribes, I always saw vampires as ancient and very aristocratic. I attempted to envision a species that was born to be immortal. A species that seemed so much like us, yet were really so alien to us. One aspect we never had room for was to treat their need for animal blood as if it were a typical fact of their life. Treat their intake of animal blood as if it were as normal as us taking aspirin for a headache. Meaning that "we" would be seen as a cuisine for vampires. That there are innumerable was to "prepare" us for their appetite. Alcoholic mixed drinks of or blood and various parts, kids candies, cuisine, delicacies, condoments, etc. The more elaborate the more horrific it is to us humans. I wanted to show the vampires as the ultimate sophisticated predator species. how casually (like us) that the vampire nation treats and takes advantage of other forms of life. Like how the queens personal bodyguards maintain werewolves and purposely provoke them into their most dangerous form. In that case werewolves are subjected to be their worst and purposely turned on and off to kill for vampires. That level of power over another species says so much about the vampires. So then the question becomes how will the vampires take or tame the human challenge to their way of life.

The human side of the equation was as simple as how does a human killing machine like the Navy SEAL s maintain the emotions needed to continuously kill an enemy thru the years? The answer being an enemy you cannot ever understand, and therefore you will always fear.

The symbiotes were always the genie in a bottle. Once attached to you it attempts to understand what you truly want in your life, and then gives other to you unconditionally. Like Pilgrim, the ultimate sniper who always wants to appear to never be there. So the symbiote eventually allows her to transport into another parallel universe. She then spends the rest of her life transporting to countless worlds trying to find her way back to our planet.

Those are the major building blocks that maintain the Wetworks world...

But dont you feel the market is oversaturated with Vampire movies and stories to develope a new outlet? even though your idea is good. with all the movies and books flooding the market i think the Vampire thing has and is being overdone.

Love your art! Would be nice if you updated it through your G+. I've been following you since the Wetwork Series in the 90s. I'd love to see more of it, and also hopefully a movie if that ever happens.

Keep up the amazing work. You have inspired me a lot through my days as a young teenager.
